LAN Associates attended a groundbreaking Ceremony on Thursday September 8, 2016 for the construction of a new two story 19,000 sf auxiliary gymnasium addition to Dominican Colleges Hennessy Center located in Orangeburg, New York. LAN collaborated with Holt Construction to provide Design-Build architectural services. The gymnasium addition will be constructed along the south side of the existing Hennessy Centers gymnasium to provide expanded physical education and recreational facilities for its sports program, students and staff. The design aesthetic contextually blends in with Hennessy Hall and other surrounding buildings on the Dominican College campus.
The new building construction will consist of exterior masonry walls with brick veneer and synthetic stucco accents to match the existing facility. The building will be provided with a steel frame and low pitch roofing installed on pre-engineered steel joists. The addition will be fully handicapped accessible. The new facility will provide regulation NCAA sized gymnasium, large multi-use area for exercise and weightlifting equipment, handicap accessible men’s and women’s bathrooms, aerobics studio, multiple coaches offices, 12 individual team storage rooms and 1 large equipment garage.
Construction on the new facility will commence in September 2016 and is scheduled to be completed late spring of 2017.
