LAN Associates employees, in conjunction with the Sussex County Trails Partnership, a Sussex County Chamber of Commerce committee, and representatives of the NJ State Parks participated in a voluntary clean-up day of several local rail trails. LAN volunteers worked on various Sussex branch trails to improve their appearance and trail guidance.
Tasks of the day included cleaning up and painting multiple trail kiosks located at trail entrances, brushing back kiosks for easy access and usage, and installing new trail loop signs at the trail entrances.
“The trail clean-up is an excellent way to give back to the community while at the same time promoting the rich history of former railways and the ecotourism opportunities that the Skylands region offers,” says volunteer Chris Guddemi, Director of Land Use at LAN Associates. “Our effort to keep these trails clean and easily navigable encourages public health and awareness, and enjoyment of the rail trail system.”
LAN Associates has provided professional architecture and engineering services to the NJ Parks throughout the State for over 20 years and has volunteered with the Sussex County Trails Partnership over the past seven years.
The Sussex County Chamber of Commerce organized the event to coordinate the trail clean-up day. The Sussex County Trail Partnership holds clean up days four times per year, open to volunteers from the public.
