Abraham Lincoln School #14

Project Overview

LAN was contracted by the Elizabeth Board of Education to design a new air conditioning system at the Abraham Lincoln School #14. The project required the conversion of their existing hot water only heating system to a two-pipe hot water heating and chilled water cooling system. The new system provided heating, cooling, and ventilation throughout the entire building.

The existing ten-year-old boiler plant was reused along with a new 150-ton air cooled chiller to create primary hot water heating, primary chilled water cooling, and secondary dual-temperature loops. The existing hot water supply distribution system was reused and converted to a dual-temperature system. Several smaller spaces were provided with heating and cooling fan coil units and added to the new system.

In addition to the new dual-temperature system to feed the classrooms, new direct expansion (DX) cooling systems were provided to the gymnasium, auditorium, and the main office.
