The Mamaroneck Union Free School District commissioned LAN Associates to renovate the existing natatorium facility at the Hommocks Middle School in Mamaroneck, New York. The renovations included updates and improvements to the plumbing, heating, ventilation and dehumidification systems, roofing, locker rooms, and pool deck. The new design meets the specifications laid out by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Department of Health.
LAN removed the existing pneumatic roofing and blower systems and installed an aluminum framed skylight structure. The structure was designed with a motorized retractable roof made up of insulated translucent panels.
Pool modifications include the replacement of the main drain, installation of a stainless-steel gutter, and piping system renovations. The pool drains and returns were modified to provide additional capacity to meet State of New York Department of Health requirements. Locker room renovations included new fixtures, finishes and lighting. The updates also included making the facility fully ADA handicap accessible.
