Masonry Upgrades at Fairleigh Dickinson University

Project Overview

Fairleigh Dickinson University commissioned LAN Associates to repair exterior masonry of the north and south rotunda entrances at the Ferguson Recreation Center at the FDU Florham Park Campus. The Ferguson Recreation Center was constructed in 1995. Shortly after construction, the rotunda entrances began to experience chronic water infiltration at window heads, damaging interior wall finishes. The water infiltration resulted in mold growth on interior finishes and within the exterior wall cavity.

The remedial work included the complete removal and replacement of the exterior brick veneer and gypsum sheathing and repair of exterior light gauge steel stud wall framing. To provide proper drainage of the cavity wall system, newly engineered flashing systems were installed at all window heads and at the perimeter brick relieving angles. The work also included the installation of new standing seam metal roofing, curved aluminum gutters and leader downspout assemblie
