Middletown Pool

LAN was retained by the Middletown Recreation and Parks Department to rehabilitate the existing pool at the War Veterans Memorial Pool at Fancher Davidge Park. The pool had been closed since 2008 due to its inability to retain water along with other structural, health and cosmetic issues. The facility includes a 40’x120’ main pool and a 45’x45’ shallow wading pool

Work to the main pool included a new concrete pool shell with Diamond-Brite plaster pool finish, new enlarged concrete pool decks, and modifications to the main drain to comply with current health department regulations. Stainless steel perimeter supply and overflow gutters, a new surge tank, and all new state of the art filtration system with supply and return piping were installed.

Renovations to the wading pool included removal of the old wading pool and installation of a new concrete deck and padded safety liner. New aquatic spray features and water activities were installed. Children can now cool off with water from a spray worm, gusher jets, spray hoops, pop jets, a water cage and even sit on a water shooting turtle. The water features are filtered by a state-of-the-art filtration system like the main pool. The spray park is the first of its kind in Orange County, New York. These features are managed through an automatic controller that is fully programmable to vary the experience for users.

New filtration systems were installed for both areas that included perlite filters that minimize backwashing and are automated for media optimization. New pumps with VFDs were installed to conserve energy. Liquid chemicals were eliminated with the use of automated chlorination systems using chlorine tablets, and PH is being controlled through the use of liquid carbon dioxide.
